Grace Alone (Sola Gratia)

Written by Langelihle Mbonambi and Ndumiso Manana

Grace Alone (Sola Gratia)

hilst hearts were far and hard as stone
To sin and violence predisposed
The kindness of the one offended
With nail pierced hands the chasm mended
’Twas God who reached to draw us close
’Twas he alone that none may boast
Salvation’s work we cannot own
His grace alone that none may boast
His grace alone that none may boast

Whilst feet were prone to wandering
In fields forbidden lingering
With gentleness his rod and staff
Corrected and made straight our path
heaven’s shepherd lead us home
’Twas he alone that none may boast
Salvation work we cannot own
’Twas grace alone that none may boast
His grace alone that none may boast

Whilst hands were set to aimless task
On building what would never last
Jesus Christ the stone rejected
Turned our works to praise accepted
His burden light, easy his yoke
’Twas he alone that none may boast
Salvation’s work we cannot own
’Twas grace alone that none may boast
’Twas grace alone that none may boast

Whilst lips have words to sing and speak
Our songs of praise will never cease
A once rebellious fallen race
Has come to know amazing grace
Now we stand as his betrothed
Firmly in our saviors‘ hold
Salvations work is not our own
God made it so, let it me known
In Christ alone we make our boast
’Twas grace alone that none may boast
Sweet grace alone that none may boast
